Exhibition time: 12 08 2022 - 08 09 2022
Meno Parkas Gallery (Rotušės a. 27, 44279 Kaunas, Lithuania)

You are kindly invited to the opening of Živilė Minkutė exhibition „Noise“ and an experiential meditation led by Živile Kolendaitė-Mubarak. It will take place on the 12th of August (Friday) on 6pm at Meno Parkas Gallery (Rotušės a. 27, Kaunas).

In her solo show-installation "Noise" Živilė Minkutė is using language of graphic and interdisciplinary art to go encourage us dive deeper exploring inner world and mental health, contemplating the need for boundaries and the need for balance as a core axis of sustainable psychological well-being. The fast pace of life in the noise of information overload becomes a routine in which unstoppable comparison with others takes over, acrobatic balancing between aspirations and the possibilities of fitting in all this - being a wonderful parent, but at the same keep advancing career; of being a socially responsible participant in society, while at the same time managing to sustain the ideal household. And underneath it all - infinite freedom of choice, which, according to the exhibition's author, often remains illusory. Trying not to sink in the contemporary overload of external information and internal experiences, one has to keep to reality, even if in it the only stable basis sometimes is this utopian search for balance in the constant noise.

Živilė Minkutė continue to explore the limits of printmaking, searching for the place for this media in the context of contemporary art world. The author seeks to present the traditional medium in an innovative, contemporary concept and to speak in a tone that is relevant and understandable to the present. The exhibition-installation reveals the relationship between mixed media flat works, mobile sculpture and multi-layered monotypes. The search for balance is conveyed in the form of a mobile, hanging sculpture.

About the artist:

Živilė Minkutė is a younger generation artist, who graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2015 with a Master's degree in Graphic Arts and has been actively working in the field of art and creative industries since then. She has presented her work in more than three dozen group exhibitions and has also held seven solo exhibitions. Her main field of interest is inner and social relationships and their expression in the personality. She focuses on the fusion of traditional printmaking in the context of contemporary art. A striking example of this is the last exhibition presented - "Crochet from Fur". This deeply researched and five-year-long project presented the search for a connection with one's own body, invited to pay attention to the issues of identity relevant to a contemporary young person, to learn to accept oneself as a whole, and at the same time opening the way to the acceptance of the other/different person. The project was presented at the Vilnius Graphic Art Centre; KCCC Culture Palace in Klaipėda; Šiauliai Art Gallery; ArtVilnius Contemporary Art Fair, Takas exhibition; Galeria Willa, Poland.

The exhibition is partially supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture, Lithuanian Artist' Association and LATGA association.
