Danielius Sodeika. FORM OF WORD

Exhibition time: 30 11–23 12 2023
Opening: November 30 | 18:00
Meno Parkas Gallery (Rotušės a. 27, 44279 Kaunas, Lithuania)

Danielius Sodeika's solo exhibition "Form of Word" presents sculptural objects from recent years, mostly made of wood or, in search of an extension of meanings, in duet with another material. The forms of the works are minimalist - it seems that the author listens to nature, follows it, and intervenes only to accentuate what he has heard or understood. This exhibition is a dialogue between form and word. Daniel is a linguist by nature and is always looking for the meanings of words in his everyday life, so the objects that emerge from them appear naturally, in the course of his work.

Words have certain consonances of sounds and emotions that dictate form. "I have a word and I associatively make a work based on that word. For example, silver as a word is associated with the emotion of cleanliness, chastity, and it was important for me to show this word in what way to create a space for it, to go closer and closer to this object."

In this exhibition, the titles of the works are unnamed, and the artist invites you, the audience, to become active participants - to contribute your own interpretations, to give the visual forms a sonic, verbal expression. "I wonder if there will be some new combinations of sounds. I want to try to play with what is an object and what is a word. I would like the work to find its own name. In this way my concept would make sense. "
